| Description: | LABOURS GREAT VICTORY. Mr Tom Myers - beats Coalition candidate & Sir John Simon (independent) in Spen Valley election. Labour win by-election in Spen Valley West Yorkshire. M/S Footage of crowds on the steps of a civic type building, (probably the Town Hall) two gas lamps stand at the foot of the steps. The crowd seems to be made up of an amalgamation of members of the public and journalists. They line the steps and gather around at the bottom. Officials appear to be announcing the results of the by-election. We see each candidate in turn standing centrally on the steps while the amount of votes cast are given. A man near the top of the steps has a large wooden placard with the amount of votes cast for each candidate which he holds up for the crowd to see. The journalists frantically scribble down notes as the results are given . | |
