| Description: | Footage quality is poor. Lake Como Festival. A water festival on Italy's lovely Lake Como looks back to the gallant tourneys and chivalric warfare of the 12th century, to inspire a thrilling, colorful event. Ships with sails, very ancient style, including some oars sticking out the sides of the ship (think Ben Hur). People on board in costumes, including men in what looks like armor. Also woman dressed as noble lady or queen on board. Men compete in various jousting-type contests. Two men balancing over the water fight with sticks, till one falls off into water. Splash. The woman dressed as a queen places a sort of crown, looks like laurel wreath, on head of one man. Contemporary (1958) spectators watch, seated in stands. (Many shots have contemporary buildings in bkg, so most shots not good as a re-creation.) | |
