GV panning over crowd of unemployed attending a mass rally in Hyde Park, where Labour Party leader George Lansbury is speaking. MLS the 74-year-old Lansbury speaking. GV pan over crowd watching as he speaks, even gets a laugh. In Paris, unemployed artists sing on the street to raise money for a group helping out-of-work artists and musicians (including themselves no doubt). High-angle MLS several men and women singing from songsheets, a violin player, a guy with a megaphone, and of course a sign; people are crowded around watching. CU sign asking the crowd to "Buy our Songs!" CU pan on 2 women singing. Also in Paris, students run a free restaurant for the unemployed. cu sign "Rue Cujas". Fade to shot of working class people, mostly men, standing in a line on the sidewalk. Another view, with some women more visible; they are lined up by a building with a big sign ending in words "...pour l'aide auz Chomeurs!" (for the assistance to the Unemployed.) CU another sign says Reserved to Unemployed People of 5th and 6th A- -(Probably Arrondisement i.e.City Ward.) MS/ CUs people waiting in line, including couple with baby.. Sign says soupe is served at 1 p.m.; another sign asks for donations of clothes, etc. Interior. MS man enters, shows card to a young male student sitting at a desk. MS another man showing the guy his ID, papers etc. to show he is unemployed and does live in that area; in BG others are seating themselves. MS People at talbes with bowls, bottles of wine, etc.; can see a couple of the volunteer waiters making sure everyone gets seated. | |
