| Description: | LAUGHING AT THE LAW OF GRAVITY Slow-motion film of male dancer doing great leaps. Acrobatic dancer performs gravity defying stunts with the help of six glamour girls. United Kingdom "Laughing at the law of gravity. How a Daring Dancer defies it." LS man in white shirt, dark trousers, and some odd looking white cap or stocking over his head, dancing in front of a chorus of 6 young women; the chorus girls are wearing various combinations of shorts and tops over tights- -looks more like practice clothes. The lead dancer leaps in from rt. (stage left) in a sideways assembly w/ legs spread wide during jump. He next makes a running jump in front of the chorus, leaping high into the air and kicking his heels together. He does a few steps in front center then jumps straight up and does double turn in the air. Regular speed. MLS diag. view: the girls stand in row across stage c. 2-3 ft. apart; they all bend over and grab their feet. The guy goes jumping over them like a frog w/ feet together. Same stunt seen in slo-mo, LS view from front of stage, panning rt as he jumps past girls on rt. end of line. MLS the man sitting on mattress with knees up, heels touching; he rocks backward onto his shoulders w/ bent legs held above him, then attempts to whip himself onto his feet- -he does land on his feet for an instant but falls backward again. Slo-mo version of same stunt, but this time he succeeds in snapping up onto his feet in squatting position, then stands up. Diag. view: the women stand in row bending over; the man does a running leap over them into a somersault on the mattress. Slo-mo seen from front - -this looks more impressive because in diag. view optical effect is to shorten the distance- -here one can see that the row of women's backs is wider than the man is tall. Side view of same stunt (man leaps over girls toward camera which must be just beyond mattress. | |
