LEATHER FAIR Nifty new handbags, suitcases and leather devices are shown - couple of great novelty items.

Kensington Palace Hotel, London.

M/S of a woman being shown a large piece of pink leather. Narrator quips: "Some people believe everything they see, like pink elephants." The woman is then given a pink handbag which narrator states has been made out of an elephant's ear. M/S of her inspecting the bag then a C/U of her opening the flaps of the bag (it has two flaps, one on either side). "Luxury leather goods are number three on the list of Britain's dollar earners" states the narrator over a shot of a man holding a large leather suitcase. He places it on a table. Narrator describes it as a "coach hide traveling case". C/U of pockets on the case being unzipped to show contents within. Low angle shot of the man admiring his case then another C/U of the bag being unzipped. L/S of two models sitting in a domestic setting. One of the women demonstrates how light a particular suitcase is. C/U of the weight register of a set of scales to which the bag is attached. C/U of the model seen earlier admiring the lightness of the case. The two girls climb on top of the case to demonstrate that it can "take the strain". They hold hands and look at each other - bizarre. Next up is a very weird creation. It is for the "bookworm who feels the need for a little liquid refreshment on a long journey". It looks like a little box of miniature books but each book is a little hip flask containing booze. Would have been good in prohibition times. One of the books is taken out and the lid unscrewed. A glass of whisky is poured out. The narrator details the design of these bizarre books - good for smuggling alcohol around. C/U of the box of books being closed up again. First model demonstrates another quirky handbag - it is made to look like a parcel of books - brilliant. The bag is called "Shakespeare". A multipurpose clothes brush is next, it conceals a manicure set and comb inside a zipped compartment. It "indicates a trend towards neatness in a person's toilet." L/S of model sitting at a table. C/U of her trying to balance a small handbag mirror against her handbag so that she can comb her hair. It keeps slipping over. A special handbag eliminates the bother. She places another handbag on the table and pulls out a special mirror which is inside it - it stands up. A special cosmetic and manicure set comes with the handbag. Narrator says that this alleviates the need to carry the estimated 24 bits and pieces the average woman manages to accumulate. C/U of woman looking into the mirror. M/S of a woman holding a large piece of red luggage. This is a specially designed duffle bag for those who find that their knees get in the way - carried beside the body it is quite thin. A handbag and matching hat are shown next. The woman's feather hat actually fits onto the handbag so they can be carried together - nifty! (purse, luggage, baggage)
