Domestic family scene: woman sits sewing; little girl beside her playing w/ doll. Girl goes to answer door. Mailman enters w/ special delivery letter; woman signs for letter; postman exits. Woman reads letter; is shocked and sad; cries. Husband/father comes home; little girl meets him at door; he picks her up to kiss her. Then goes to wife; kisses her; sees letter sticking out of her bosom. She tries to hide it; but the man grabs the letter; reads it; becomes very angry; pushing away his wife and his daughter; striking sewing table. He sits reading rest of letter and his anger turns to grief. He sits crying in sorrow as wife and daughter try to comfort him. | |
