| Description: | MISSING 4/28/2003 LETTERS FROM HOME film about a letter from a wife to a soldier overseas C/U of soldier in uniform smoking a cigarette and reading a letter. As he reads the sound of a woman's voice is heard on the soundtrack as if she is reading the letter. As she speaks we see images which illustrate the things she is telling her husband about. She tells her husband that the children are well and we see them playing in fields, having a ride on a tractor and doing some gardening. The little girl is seen walking along with a dolly, she then helps her mother with the washing up - cute. The woman tells her husband that their house is looking beautiful and that they are growing their own vegetables. She arranges some flowers in a vase by a photograph of her absent husband. The young boy has found a bird's nest, the little girl and mother come to look at it. A suit is taken out of the wardrobe and the wife gives it a good brush then hangs it on the washing line. She says she is trying to stop the moths getting at his suits. She sighs and says: "Won't it be wonderful when you are wearing them again." She goes for a walk down a country lane then sits on a stile looking out over the fields, telling her husband how lovely it looks "this England"... Patriotic. She misses her husband and is thinking of him. Daughter Anne writes a little letter to her father. We see mother taking the two children to church and she tells her husband that they have prayed for him to be kept safe. Film ends with a shot of the soldier folding up his letter and looking pensive. So sad! | |
