| Description: | "Fairy tale about a mother cucumber who warns the little one to stay close to home or the mouse will get him. After many problems, when he strays from the nest, the little one learns that the best place is home." Wacky animated models. "Once upon a time there lived a cucumber, a tiny little thing... " and thus begins the journey. This is adorable yet ultimately bizarre material, the stop-action animation akin to the work of Yuri Trinka or perhaps the legendary animated series, "Davey and Goliath". Lil Cuke is cradle-rocked at home by his mom, who tells the young un to "not go the end of the garden, as that is where the mouse is, and he'll bite off your tail." Lil Cuke wakes up the next morning to find his mom and pop gone (for work?). Lil Cuke dons his straw hat and hobo pole and sets into the garden. There he encounters a young bird that has fallen out of its nest. Lil Cuke helps the bird back into the nest, takes off. Later on he meets a rabbit who has lost its way; Cuke and Rabbit set off, eventually find the Rabbit's mother. Alone yet again, Cuke encounters a drowning chick. Cuke saves the chick, delivers him to the parents waiting on shore. Later still, Cuke plays a rousing game of tag with a neighborhood puppy. A thunderstorm passes by: the puppy and kitten seek refuge in a kennel while Cuke makes for home. Somewhere along the way Lil Cuke scares the evil mouse from the garden. | |
