| Description: | LONDON'S FAMOUS CLUBS AND CABARETS - THE CASA NUOVA RESTAURANT, LONDON Dancers, mime artists, a contortionist, Marie Kendall and Leslie Sarony London's Famous Clubs and Cabarets - 'The Casa Nuova' Restaurant, London. (with Al Berlin's Band) - The Theatres are closed, but London after dark continues its gay dancing - M/S of Big Ben, supposedly at night, but looks like daytime, reading 11.30. Inside The Casa Nuova we see couples dancing to Al Berlin's Band (they look like American college boys). The first cabaret act we see is Regina West, dancing about the floor in a floaty dress, doing high kicks and swishing a fan about. Mime artist George Lauri is the next act, showing a man ice skating for the first time. He does several pratfalls, then is joined by a girl holding a muff. They do some funny slapstick stuff together as he tries to lift her and it all goes wrong. Then we see contortionist Joan Cowley doing the splits very slowly and twisting into different shapes. Comedienne Marie Kendall sings her famous song 'Just Like The Ivy', with the audience joining in. A woman in a white gown walks onto the dance floor and puts her arms around Marie as she sings, as if to comfort her. The next performance comes from Eve Fulton, who dances and leaps about on ballet points. The final act we see is Leslie Sarony, singing his famous comic song, 'Wheezy Anna". The audience join in the chorus. Final intertitle reads: "And so to bed ... " as we hear the chimes of Big Ben. | |
