| Description: | One hundred and twenty freighters wait dock side and their cargo of food is delayed indefinitely by a strike of 1700 truck drivers and has effectively shut down Smithfield Market, London's big produce center. Cargoes accumulate on the docks turning into wasteful spoilage. Meat is airlifted in from Holland. Perishable foods are moved out by volunteers, there aren't enough willing hands. Four thousand tons of food has been condemned already. London won't starve but it's an unbalanced diet. A huge cargo ship docked with no movement of unloading food cargo. MLS - Many ships docked, no movement. MS - Cranes, still. MS - Pile of boxes piled on top of one another. MCUS - Volunteers moving food. MS - Plane taking off from a runway. MS - A plane just delivered 100 tons of meat from Holland. | |
