| Description: | "New York ghetto fish market." High angle view very crowded NYC street market on Lower East Side. Rows of pushcarts and street vendors' vehicles. Vendors cutting up fish on low tables, weighing on scales, etc. Women shoppers w/ shawls and/or babushkas and baskets. Over some tables are umbrellas w/ advertising slogans: "All Cars Transfer to Bloomingdale's." (the department store?). The film seems to follow three official looking men (one in a uniform) as they walk among the crowd. ?They may be New York City health inspectors? NOTE: This market is on the Lower East Side, probably on or near Hester Street, which at the turn of the century was the center of commerce for New York's Jewish ghetto; the people were mostly from Eastern European countries.
