Waitress writing out bill which she puts on table. One of the women picks it up and they stand up and move away from table. MS Manager of cafe looks at watch while standing by shelves covered by a cloth. Clock on top of shelves at which he looks. MCU Clock face. Hands say six o'clock. MS Manager takes cloth off shelves. Shows bottles of wine. MS A number of coats hanging on rack. Hats of shelf above. A hat and coat disappear. Ditto. All coats are gone leaving empty spaces. MS Table laid with uses tea things. Plates with cakes and jam and bread disappear. Empty plates disappear Cups disappear. Jug and teapot disappear and sugar basin and ashtray disappear leaving empty cloth. MS Man hanging French picture on wall. He walks out of pic. Double speed. MS Empty table clean white cloth. Candlestick appears. Ashtray and cruet appear. Knives and forks appear. Side plates and table napkins appear. Matches and table is ready for use. MS Waiter laying another table (Double Speed) MS Empty coat rack. Top hat coat and fur wrap appear. Another overcoat appears. MLS People sitting at table by candlelight looking at menus. MS Man looking at menu. MS Waiter coming through curtains holding plates of snails which he puts before three people at table. Man picks up tongs. CU Man picking up snail with tongs. He lifts up fork and begins to take snail out of shell. CU Woman putting snail into mouth. MCS. Man takes snail from shell. Camera pans up to show him putting snail into mouth. MS Waiter pouring brandy into frying pan over a flame. He shakes pan as flames appear and pours other liquid into pan. He then picks up tongs and turns food over in pan. MCS. Waiter's hand turns food over. He takes pan from flame and towards table and places contents in front of woman. Ext. MS Man dressed as gendarmes walking up and down outside restaurant door Man walks into pic. Past gendarme who salutes him as he goes into door. MS Gendarme looking after man as he goes through door. MS Wall. A hand holding match strikes match on wall. Camera pans up to show Rupert Davies lighting pipe. He turns and looks at camera and does a double-take. He takes pipe from mouth smiles at camera and puts pipe back in mouth. | |
