| Description: | May Day - and mother wakened little Lily Winterburn early to be crowned "Queen of the May" at 6.30 a.m.! Walworth, London. M/S shows two women standing either side of a topiary arch in a park, watching as a line of girls in white with flowers in their hair come walking through it. M/S of the girls walking along; the smaller ones hold the train of the older ones. M/S of an older girl placing a flowered crown in the head of a small girl, Lily Winterburn - it is a bit low on her head and covers her eyes! Nice C/U of Lily wearing the crown (at a more flattering angle) and smiling. "Thousands flocked to Hyde Park for usual "feast of Oratory"." M/S of a section of a crowd of men and women in Hyde Park; they are all dressed in a uniform and look like members of the Communist Party (?). L/Ss of crowds of men and women marching along the street, some carrying banners (most are unreadable on a monitor screen; one says 'All Power to the Workers'). A small crowd of onlookers line the street. General view of the huge crowds in Hyde Park. M/S of four men on one of the oratory stands; the banner behind them reads 'The Tailors & Garment Workers Trade Union'. A crowd is gathered before the stand as one of the men takes off his jacket, rolls up his shirtsleeves and makes an impassioned speech. Closer shot of the speaker - good 'Trade Union boss' shot! | |
