	Description:	MERELY MAIZE - A SOUTH AFRICAN SIDELIGHT Men at work harvesting sweet corn in South Africa. MLS pan on cornfield where African workers are picking corn; white overseer stands there doing nothing; another white man in a suit goes walking through the field. Wide shot looking across yard to rather haphazard looking farm machinery which removes the kernels from the ears of corn; a few workers stand at left end, maybe shucking. LS kernels of corn come flying out of chute into a wagon; a worker w/ a shovel is distributing the corn around the wagon and a young boy is perched on the edge of the wagon. MCU legs of man standing ankle-deep in corn, w/ a rain of corn falling around him. Wide shot grain elevators. MCU white man looking at corn flowing out of 2 slots. CU corn falls onto a jiggling slotted metal grid & is sifted through it. MCU grain pouring straight down. Wide shot panning on masses of bags stacked up to the sky and waiting for transport; pan left on bags; in front of them a few small train cars filled w/ bags sit on a track. Boxcars of freight train slowly moving past to left; smoke billowing upward, mountains in BG. LS railroad worker turns crank on boxcar whichj opens 2 doors in back for grain to pour out. Shot which looks like a long empty conveyor belt moving along a long corridor; rather modernistic look but that may be by chance. Nice shot of ship at dock: looking across deck w/ cranes & rigging criss-crossing, big warehouses (& grain elevators?) in BG. Sort of indeterminate shot from ship, a couple guys working in BG, man hurries past in FG.
