| Description: | Midsummer Dance Festival of the pre-Christian Era by Madame Bannard Cogley and her friends. Ireland M/S of group of men and women in Roman-style togas and tunics doing square dancing on a lawn. C/U of two men in tunics; one plays violin, other plays bagpipe type instrument. M/S of the piper leading a procession across the lawn. The women hold branches of trees, some of the men are dressed as warriors with spears and helmets. A man in a white robe - a druid? - presents crown and sceptre to one of the warriors. The women dance around them in a circle. The group then all skip off in to nearby woodland. Quirky re-enactment of druidic ceremony, sanitised for twentieth century toffs! | |
