Back view some extravaganza - US soldiers; children in weird "Native" costumes; etc. Next; looks like a garden party; Union Jack flying; British soldier on bicycle rides past. Another scene has doughboys marching; w/ women in summer dresses holding parasols; waving. Nurses follow. CU soldiers marching; women shake heroes' hands. In FG a guy in blackface dressed as "Native" walks past. A touch of racism. Group representing homefront; in civilian dress; walk behind nurses. Throughout all this there is some sort of huge unidentifiable scenery . American taste for the spectacle run rampant. | |
