| Description: | Just-released defense department films show a spectacular series of missile crashes. Missile mishaps and failures these pictures are the results of test flights, the blazing finales of which lighted the engineers' path of progress to final success. A rocket that sort of looks like a Flash Gordon space ship takes off and goes down. MS - This rocket is on a launching pad, it lifts up maybe about 15 feet off the pad and starts to fall apart. MS - This rocket is on a parallel launching pad travels around 10 to 20 feet and points down and down it goes, nose first. MS - Navy's Vanguard, its on the launching pad, the rockets are spitting out fire and smoke and instead of going up it looks like its going in reverse, right into the ground. MS - The next Vanguard is launched at Cape Canaveral and it is a beautiful and perfect launch. This is the pay off that makes it all worth while. | |
