| Description: | MODEL AUTOMAT (aka THE AGE OF THE ROBOT aka HONEYMOON AT AUTOMAT HOTEL) M/Ss on a wintry day as a red sports car drives in to the Master Robert Motel near London Airport. MS Car pulling into motel. MS Car stops outside motel. The occupants of car climb out. Camera pans up to show signpost Coffee Shop Restaurant etc. MS Three receptionists. The two people from the car get their reservations. MS Keys and pamphlet handed to the man by receptionist. The couple walk out of picture. MS Receptionist walks over to controls of automat machine and switches machine on. Picks up book. CU Book. Receptionist writes in book. CU Controls of machine. Receptionist pressing button. MS Man filling up machine. MS Ditto. MS Man closes machine. He pushes trolley out of picture as couple enter room. MS Girl sits down on couch whilst man walks over to machine. MCU Machine. Man puts money in machine. ECU Man presses button. MCU man takes his hand away from machine and bends down. Camera pans down with him and opens compartment at bottom and removes goods. MS Man opens can of drink bends down picks up tin of peanuts takes lid off tin and empties in dish. MCU Man opens fridge door and removes bowl of ice. MS Man puts ice in drinks and carries drink over to girl - camera pans with him. Man sits down beside girl. CU Clock. MS Girl walks in and out of picture in negligee. MCU Girl presses button on machine. CU Girl opens compartment door at bottom of machine and removes tube of toothpaste. MS Man sitting on side of bed in pajamas and takes his socks off - throws them on floor picks up packet of cigarettes finds it's empty stands up and walks out of picture. MCU Man opens compartment door at bottom of machine and picks up a packet of cigarettes and a book, 'The Dirty Dozen' from the Quickmaid, then settles down in bed to smoke and read. Note: great story for illustrating modern automation and the "serve yourself movement". Good for illustrating businessmen and honeymoon couples in hotels / motels. Good stuff about the "mini bar" - narrator observes: "just sit and think about the things you'd like - and forget you have to pay at the end." I know the feeling! | |
