Great footage of young women exercising and learning how to be fashion models at the John Wills Training School for Fashion and Photographic Models, Fulham, London. MS a row of pretty girls sitting on floor in front of a wall with climbing bars; The young women, who all wear very short dark-colored shorts and tied-up blouses in various patterns of red and white, are doing neck exercises, tilting their heads side to side, then turning left to rt . Good CUs of individual girls doing hand exercises, and of instructor demonstrating graceful hand movements. MCU girl doing sit-ups while sliding to and fro on an exercise machine. Good shots of several pair of female legs sticking up in the air doing cycling exercise; tilt down to the girls propped up on their shoulders; 2 girls chatting as they exercise. Good MS pan in gymnasium past 3 girls doing the cycling exercise, 2 more girls doing a stretching exercise on the climbing bars on the wall; another young woman doing stretches at the barre; we see her and her reflection in the mirror as she bends over her raised leg. MS instructor Leonard Ralph teaches a group of these young women the basics of hair styling; Cuts between CUs of him styling one girl's hair and CUs of the others watching. Runway practice! Woman instructor walks along runway toward camera past some other students and instructors, demonstrating the correct way to "turn" on the catwalk. The "rocking turn" is designed to make the skirt flare out. She sends out one of the aspiring models to have a try at it. Next, instructor demonstrates the correct way to do court curtsy. Then one of the students wearing a glamorous strapless evening gown does the curtsey. Next instructor shows how to carry an umbrella . MCU photographer with still camera on a stand, and a really big light. LS photographer setting up a picture; model is posing in front of curtains; there are a few big lights placed around the room; 4 other young women watch; one of them gets up, walks out of picture.
