LS From above motorway of traffic travelling along it. M/S of tractor spreading ballast to prepare new road surface. The commentator tell us that "...this motorway is growing at the rate of cricket pitch length in two hours flat, almost all by automation." Numerous shots of the machinery in action we see rollers, conveyor belt shifting stone and soil, dumper trucks and a machine that levels the ballast smoothly over the motorway. Various M/S's of tarmac being emptied from truck and being shovelled by workmen and flattened by workmen. | |
