Description:MR PASTRY AT THE CIRCUS Mr Pastry (aka Richard Hearne) visits some animals at Chipperfield's Circus

Hounslow, Middlesex.

M/S of a lorry being unloaded at the entrance to Chipperfield's circus in Hounslow, Middlesex; Mr Pastry (aka Richard or Dickie Hearne) enters shot dressed in a suit and bowler hat; C/U as he bends down to examine a sign pointing 'To the Zoo' (circus display area); fishes in his pocket and pulls out the lining - empty! He starts to unpack boxes from the lorry to the circus entrance as the workmen are doing, then sneaks inside when their backs are turned. Inside the grounds he looks around then walks over to two giraffes in a pen, two circus workers are standing by smoking and he takes some food from their bucket before they walk off; C/Us as he feeds a giraffe, then pops a bit of their food in his mouth, makes a face, spits it out and walks off. M/S of a cage with lions in it being put into position as Mr P walks up to it; C/Us of the lions and Mr P looking at them and banging on their cage; one of them roars and his hat blows off; he looks indignant then runs off. Commentator says "Dickie Hearne first joined a circus at the age of seven (his mother being an actress and his father a famous clown)." C/U of Mr Chipperfield, who owns the circus, in red satin dinner jacket and bow tie. M/Ss of an elephant pushing a cage on wheels and Mr P encouraging him; commentator says "The animals are really old friends, for Dickie, who grew up in this atmosphere - he calls it his 'university', keeps coming back despite his other commitments all over the world". M/Ss of one of the Shipway Brothers swinging on a gymnast bar; they watch as Mr P has a go, looking rather clumsy, although Richard Hearne "is, of course, an expert in this and every other form of gymnastic manoeuvre". M/S of two llamas being led off beyond some trucks. M/Ss of Mr Pastry sitting on a gate reading a newspaper; he looks up and falls off the gate in surprise when he sees a group of elephants being led along; then he walks past a two-humped camel sitting with a trainer; Mr P gets on the camel as it gets up and is led off; Mr P puts his hat on the second hump, then puts it back on and tips it to us as he rides past camera.
