| Description: | New Space Triumph Astronaut Scott Carpenter becomes the fourth U. S. Airman to probe outer space and the second to orbit the earth in a flight that is fraught with drama that has the world waiting an hour for news of his safe landing. Footage of Carpenter getting suited up, CU of Carpenter wearing helmet. Carpenter walks to van. Launch pad, Aurora 7 (Mercury Seven). Carpenter exiting transfer van. Pan elevator as it rises to the top. Astronaut climbs into capsule. Press outside, from all over the world gather to get a glimpse of the launch. Men (reporters) on telephones. Large telephoto lens.
