| Description: | Newsreels Lauded By Movie Head Eric Johnston, President of the motion picture association, leaves for England to negotiate a new contract for American pictures. He takes the occasion to pay tribute to the skill of newsreel organizations in bringing screen news to the American public. Eric Johnston, President of Motion Picture Association address the audience "I'm off for England to renegotiate the Anglo American Film Agreement which has expired. But seeing all of you newsreel cameramen here makes me want to say this to the motion picture theater audiences. Wherever the news is big and hot in Korea, in Washington - everywhere. You will find the news reel cameraman there to shoot it for you as it happened. (Shots of the camera men taking pictures of Eric Johnson as he speaks) Our country has faced serious threats before, but this is the gravest of them all. It would be tragic if we sapped our strength arguing over past mistakes. Strength is better armament better weapons of all kinds. A mightier, more powerful America. But the greatest strength of any nation is a people united in purpose and in action concentrating on a single goal. Wining through to victory and to peace." | |
