Fade in on a map of America onto which question marks are superimposed. Dissolve to title: AMERICA as song says, "What is America to me?" Cut to map of America; cut to American flag filling the screen; cut to mailman delivering the mail to a row of homes; cut to flowers in a garden; cut to a quiet, trr-lined street with a car in the BG; cut to a grocery store as the owner, standing in front, waves to a passerby who waves to him; cut to children playing on teeter totter in a playground; a group of girls on the playground pass the camera; cut to tilt up of church bell tower; cut to a statue of a saint in front of a church; cut to a tilt up building front; cut to a pan from stret scene to home; cut to CU of window of the house; street scene downtown as cars pass over the pavement; cut to yellow blossoms; cut to tilt up of steeple; cut to high school students coming out of metropolitan high school; cut to domed court house; cut to postman finishing his row of deliveries; cut to people exiting a factory; all of this in synch with the song... "The house I live in, the people that I meet..." etc.
Dissolve to main titles: The United Fund of St. Joseph County, Inc. presents "Operation 32" followed by credit titles. Mort Linder narrates; Notre Dame choir sings the title and background music. FO/FI on United Fund logo on street sign. Cut to MC shot of building and sign, tilt down as man enters the UF headquarteers building. FO/FI on UF logo followed by montage of the logos of the UF group; end with UF logo again. FO/FI on Boy Scouts of America poster. Cut to Boy Scouts preparing a campsite. Cut to feathered Indian war bonnet, pull back to see a scout in Indian makeup and dress putting the bonnet on. Cut to Cub scouts working with their leader on model airplane engine. CU of engine. Cut to Cubs working with hammer and dies on leather work; cut to Sea Scouts working with semaphore Morse code signal equipment; cut to a group of scouts with one boy pettiong a small animal. Cut to a group of small children eating a meal at a table; a boy talking, a girl taking a slice of bread from a loaf. Cut back to the group and back to a CU of girl and camera drops to her plate of food.
Cut to children playing on a playground (merry-go-round). Cut to slide and swings. Shots of the children playing, swinging, sliding, etc. Cut to sign "Circle of Mercy Day Nursery". Cut to mother with child walking down the street to the Circle of Mercy Children's Dispensary, and entering, , as camera tilts up to sign. Cut to a row of children waiting, sitting on chairs. Cut to a dentist working on a young boy. Cut to a doctor checking a boy, a girl and a baby with s stethoscope and tongue depressor. Pan the doctor's office, past the doctor and patient, past the nurse, down to an open drawer full of lollipops.
Cut to a sign "Visiting Nurse Assoc.", pull back to MS of office with sign and nurse with her bag leaving the building. Dissolve to her arriving at a home, entering and giving an injection to an elderly black woman. Dissolve to a boy wearing a headset as a woman works with her audio test equipement; he raises one finger when he hears the tone.. Cut to a CU of his hand and finger being raised.
FO/FI on Goodwill industries truck passing the camera. Cut to an elderly man upholstering with a hammer and tacks; we see him work with a magnetized hammer, placing tacks from his mouth to the hammer, then pounding them into place. Cut to a handicapped man polishing a child's cycle. Cut to an elderly woman sewing; tilt up to see anotehr woman ironing in the BG, the garments they have repaired hanging on racks. Cut to a minister delivering a sermon, pan to the worshippers. Cut to a CU of various worshippers, MS of Minister, ECU of Bible. Pie chart superimpositions pictures of the agencies funded, followed by the allocations of the funds. Super UF logo and super 32 over that. Pan colorful display of the agency logos. Return to UF/32 supers. As song is reprised, repeat scenes from above in synch with the choir and narrator.
