MCU working class Englishman in in pub takes a sip of beer, turns to camera & speaks, then takes a long drink. (titles written in broad dialect). MS group of young hops pickers ( children & teenagers) eating sack lunches. MS 2 mothers and children picking hops flowers off the vines. LS harvester machine, w/ workers standing on platform. One man hooks hops vines onto a bar across a steep slope, and the bar moves up the ramp pulling the vine. MCU putting the vines on the ramp. LS Worker walks on catwalk ( toward camera), inspecting huge machine w/ many parts moving. MLS vines strung around big cylinder which rotates; worker raking in FG. CY another rotating cylinder. MS hops flowers dumped from chute onto conveyor belt; women workers stand spreading the hops out on the moving belt. Shot underneath machinery: funny thing of stuff (part of hops- -maybe this is to be discarded?) falling from above into a pile; then a young girl pops up out of the pile! In BG men seen working. MLS man stuffing large bag. Wider shot the stuff falling into pile again, also truck piled w/ bags of hops parked by ôloading dockö- -a wooden platform. Truck drives away. | |
