The man wears a checkered suit and a loud tie. Shot of an experiment were the blind are literally leading the blind. The experiment is used to give seeing people first hand experience in mobility methoths used by those without sight. Two sets of people are walking down steps. The first group consists of a young woman using a walking cane (for the blind) and wearing sunglasses. She escorts a man who has been blindfolded down the steps. The second group consists of three people, two women and the man in the bad suit. The first woman is a type of chaperon, making sure there are no major accidents. The second woman is blind and uses a walking cane and carries a tote bag. The blind woman escorts the blindfolded man down the stairs. Camera follows the second group as they go for an excursion around the block. Shot of the three walking down the street, the girl in the middle uses her cane to feel the way. Side view of the three approaching an obstacle. They encounter a man who is trimming hedges. Discarded parts of the hedge are lying on the sidewalk obstructing the path. When the blind woman and the blindfolded man realize that there is something in the way, they start to move. The chaperon guides them to a stable part of the sidewalk. Reporter interviews the blindfolded man about his experience. Man replies "I'm certain that these ladies, after walking with them, do an enormous job of adjusting to their problem. But they still need help, just like all of us at one time or another do need help. But it certainly makes me more aware, there's no question about that." View of the group walking down the street. The camera focuses on their legs and the movement of the cane. | |
