| Description: | Peace Mission: India Gives Ike Greatest Acclaim The president's mission of peace and understanding brings him to India, most populous of the world's democracies, where he spends 4 momentous days and receives tribute and acclamation that outdoes even his sensational earlier receptions Turkey and Pakistan. On arrival, opening the agricultural fair and at every public background, against a dazzlingly colorful setting of the ancient land of the moguls, Ike scores a briliant triumph. Crowds. President Dwight D. Eisenhower deplanes (Presidential seal on airplane); shakes hands with men including Nehru; inspects troops. Group of press cameramen, journalists. Motorcade, Ike in open car. Indian people look on. Banner: "Welcome the Prince of Peace." Ceremony, man places wreath-like thing (only it looks heavy) around Ike's neck. Elephant uses trunk to place wreath- or lei-type things around necks of Ike's son John and daughter-in-law Barbara, who then ride atop elephant. Indian children wave. Ike and his relatives mingle at outdoor party. | |
