| Description: | PEEPS AT "THE MUSIC BOX" REVUE Good comedy "Apache" routine and some fantastic costumes in these Cochran revue extracts at the Palace Theatre in London, produced by Mr. C.B. Cochran. Renie Riano & Solly Ward perform comedy dance number; wide shot w/ large stage curtain in BG. They start out dancing together but soon Renie is dancing so fast wildly that Solly can not keep up and has to let go. She wiggles and spins around the stage while he makes some efforts at imitation, getting dizzy, and seeming almost afraid of her. They finally dance a bit more together, then he gives her a shove that sends her sliding on her stomach. Next number is the Legend of the Pearl scene w/ Ethelind Terry. Semi-transparent shimmering curtain - made up of many strands like very long x-mas icicles - opens on a scene w/ a large disc of intricate pattern like a snowflake, hanging over a oyster net stretched across the floor. 8 women in bizarre costumes ascend from the net; they wear gowns and headdresses in various odd shapes, all trimmed w/ pearls. Then, Miss Terry enters like a queen w/ 2 attendants carrying her long train. She ascends small dais in front of the net and stands w/ back to audience, arms outstretched, pearls hanging from her arms and her fabulous robe (design made w/ many pearls?) spread out behind. The beaded curtain closes on this scene. | |
