London Hippodrome Jack, played by Clarice Mayne, emerges through backdrop of vines onto stage where (s)he is greeted by a sort of angel character and a crowd of mostly children in tights & tattered tunics.Jack makes rather dangerous gestures w/ sword, then kneels, crowd treats him as hero. Next: ballerina dances w/ chorus of young girls on set with hanging vines etc. Also closer shots of dance. "The bold, bad Pender Giants." A line of scary characters in weird masks, stomping around on stilts. Next scene: The Library. Wonderful set design, stacks of giant books. The Princess (Madge Saunders) stands downstage; a few small groups of children, representing characters from stories, pose in BG, on top of books, etc. Another book opens & 2 more run out. Closer shot Madge & kids, in costumes of various countries & stories; kids start dancing. Back to the wide shot, dance continues. George Robey playing "The Dame" has trouble trying to milk a cow which is of course 2 guys in costume; dances w/ cow, cow falls on him, etc. Closer shot, Robey spanking cow. Next, Miffins (Jay Laurier) w/ a bunch of kids playing cricket. They all wear costumes stuffed to make them seem fat. Kid whacks Laurier on butt w/ cricket bat, then runs back & forth.
