| Description: | PEEPS THROUGH THE WINDOW OF THE WORLD (NO. 74) Phosphorite mine At Frambachkirchen in Austria, we see various shots of a phosphorite mine. Men work above ground with pickaxes and shovels to dislodge the phosphorite from the sandstone rocks. The rock is put onto trolleys then tipped into breaking up sheds. Then the crude phosphorite deposits are thrown into large sieves to extract the finer particles. Special machinery washes the phosphorite then women sort it. | |
