| Description: | PETER SINCLARE Peter Sinclare (Sinclair) sings about 'Frugal Dougal, Minister of Meanness' and urges us to save. That Famous Scottish Entertainer PETER SINCLARE 'Cock O' The North'." London Comedian Peter Sinclare, dressed in comic traditional Scottish costume sings a song which is probably called 'Frugal Dougal, Minister of Meanness', about saving food and money during wartime. In the middle of the song he goes into some patter about saving petrol and various things, urging parents not to give their children ice-cream but to tell them ghost stories instead, to chill their blood. He makes a joke about Santa Claus not being able to get through the balloon barrage this Christmas. He ends the song by singing about helping his wife with mending clothes. He tells us he has eight children, and says he found his pajamas were badly torn, so "a stitch in time saves nine". Also fits the stereotype of a Scotsman being painfully frugal (even cheap). | |
