| Description: | Same as catalog # 108278 PLATFORM SHOES Story on this fashion trend in the 1970s, w/ audio narration and interviews. Discusses health hazard of wearing platform shoes - different views are expressed. (fads, jeans, bell-bottoms, maxi-skirts) MS journalist stands in front of shoe store, holding up a men's platform shoe and talking about the style. Examples of the fashion seen on the street. Good shots panning with people's legs walking across street at intersection. Shots of both men and women in platform shoes of various styles- -some are incredibly precarious looking! Also seen are some wide bell bottoms, maxis (long skirts) and one girl still wearing a mini. Interviewer talks to woman platform shoe-wearer in park. Then he turns to an 'expert' who discusses physical problems that can be caused by the shoes. CU he points with tip of his walking stick at the various hazardous features of the woman's shoe. (Actually, the problems he describes have to do with the slant of the shoe rather than the height and would be the same as in high heeled shoes that are not platforms.) Next interviewer asks people their opinions of platform shoes. One man thinks they're lovely, the next says they are ridiculous and highly dangerous; other opinions vary. One young woman says "Well, they're 'with it', and you've got to be 'with it', haven't you?" and a bearded young man, asked what sort of people wear platforms, answers drugstore managers, stars and groupies! Interviewer talks to a manager of a shoe store, a conservative middle aged guy who is holding up a multi-colored men's platform shoe style and telling why it is not bad for one's feet. Finally the TV guy himself tries walking in a pair of platform shoes. | |
