| Description: | Pleasure steamer disaster. Over 40 drowned as 6 ft. steamer "Favourite" overturns in sudden squall. Lake Michigan M/S rescue party, some in rowing boats and launches, and others in swimming costumes clambering over the wreckage of the steamer, mainly submerged. A steam funnel protrudes from beneath the water, and the boat's name plate is clearly visible. Some men in swim suits stand on the submerged deck, watched by others. They slip into the water. It looks as if a body has been found and it is pulled out of the water and placed in a rescue boat. | |
