| Description: | POISE AND BALANCE By Roseray and Cappella, the Dance Stars. A dramatic and pretentious modern dance interpretation in which, according to titles, "many of the poses... are taken from famous works of Art.... " MS woman with huge feather headdress holds folds of sparkling robe in front of her face; she slowly opens her arms to reveal herself. LS same: she is standing upstage center, and a man wearing very little kneels before her. Behind them are the folds of huge curtains which are pinned up in the center and draped to reveal an art deco style display including one of those things like a sun with very long rays stretching up from it. Holding the big web of sequins that is her robe out at her sides she descends a few carpeted steps and the guy in the sparkly bikini pants rises and steps aside. Some dramatic dimly lit shots as she twirls around, he approaches her. He lifts her straight up, holding her by her legs, sets her down again. Then he helps to remove her gigantic headdress and her robe. Now she's just wearing a skimpy sequined bikini and we can see her short platinum hair. Here comes the "masterpieces" part, with poses inspired by famous works of art. He holds her above his head on one hand while she holds her body curved sideways. They perform graceful dance movements together between poses. He holds her in a low dip. They stand apart with arms stretched toward each other, fingers locked together, and she bends backward. They cross upstage. He kneels, holds one arm forward and one back. Then from kneeling position he lifts her by one leg. She holds this leg rigid and lifts the other one back in a sort of arabesque, with torso bent back. He carries her across the stage like this. | |
