Description:B:
0' to 400'............. good crowd shots inside Penn Station. MS's of agents searching lockers in train station; CU's of keys being inserted, doors being opened, packages being pulled out and inspected. Cut to a superimposition montage as the government gumshoes stake the joint out: clock faces, crowds, detectives, trains, etc. MS of showman getting pinched by feds backstage of a burlesque show. Later on they give the suspect the royal Q in classic one-lamp-in -a- dark-room-for-an-extended-period-of-time style. Interrogation.

400' to 1075'....... MS's of Lily Long and Yul getting sweet and comfortable while talking business on the deck of a sailing private boat. MS's of the suspect getting serious heat, taking the rap and getting played out like a pigeon by the cops; CU of a clock's pendulum tic-tocing loudly, driving the suspect to the brick; CU's of the guy grabbing his head; the next morning he cracks, spills the beans. MS's of two feds casing the wharf warehouse of the bad guys, at night; they searching for the goods with flashlights; MS, lit by flashlights, of a chemlab on a wall; MS's of the feds looking through files and such (ECU's of incriminating documents); MS's of the feds snapping pictures of the evidence; MS's of a fight between one of the feds and a group of thugs, still inside the warehouse, still dark. One of the feds gets caught, the other, after a brief struggle with one of the bad guys, gets away. END REEL AT 1075'.

C:
0' to 450'............. MS of a bad guy pulling out a handgun and shooting a fed in the back, killing him. MS's of a fed and a bad guy fighting in the dark (includes good shot of a baddie getting socked and falling down a flight of wood stairs). Cut to a CU of the dead agent's belongings (badge, gun, ID, etc) in a cigar box; box gets closed. Good diss montage of the San Francisco Bureau of Narcotics: typing, phone operators, daily business, memos, airplanes, cops, agents (all MS's); tight LS of San Francisco downtown area (skyline?) with the Golden Gate Bridge in the BG-- a quick but good shot. Surviving agent assumes the ID of the one who squealed earlier: MS of the fed getting a photo ID taken (photographer and flashbulb in FG), CU of the doctored ID, MS of the fed being briefed; end with tight LS, pan L, of a commercial airplane landing at LaGuardia Airport. MS of a bad guy and the "rat" talking in an apartment; MS of the baddie opening a window (the "rat" has a nice view); cut to MS of the terrified "rat", watching and muttering, "No, no!" as the shadow of th window passes over his face; MS of the "rat" getting punched in the stomach, then face, then tossed out the window (latter action NOT shown, rather it's implied).

450' to 900'......... MS's of agents, wearing nice business suits, in an office of the Narcotic Building, pacing anxiously. MS of a fed talking on the telephone; MS of a young greaser on the wrong side of the law, smoking a cigarette and talking to the fed. CU of a hand parting slats of Venetian blinds to peer at Yul and Lily talking on the deck of the private boat. MS of several federal agents hanging by a great late 1940's car as the sun sets behind them and the Brooklyn Bridge (also in BG). Tight LS's of a Coast Guard vessel sailing the Hudson Bay. MS of the fed's cover being blown while on the private boat; gets gun pulled on him. MS's of the fed and a lackey wrestling for a gun; the good guy wins and starts putting holes into people. MS of Yul firing a gun at the Coast Guard, emptying the chamber. END AT 900'.
