| Description: | Coal mining. Some good film. GV looking out over mining town - nothing in immediate FG - must be shot from a hill above - nearest is a brick building with tall square chimney; at rt. more buildings connected to it; a walkway going across left to rt. at bottom of screen; with workers walking across; coming from building.- like factory - but probably somthing to do with mines. Below walkway are train tracks; next to tracks & behind chimney a tall structure of black metal - looks like it's built from Erector Set. Tracks go into the town in valley; and in distance hills. Very much the picture of a British industrial town. Cut to CU some uneven steps on a path on hill; houses beyond hill on rt. A group of men - miners - walk down path toward camera; carrying lanterns and canes; wearing one-piece suits. Also they have close fitting small caps which I hope are really helmets. Then side view of men coming down hill; passing camera -- houses on steep hillside behind; and more hills in distance. With the miners are the Prince of Wales and a moustached man not in miner clothing with jacket and cap and boots; also carrying lantern. Maybe he's the owner or something. Don't get much of a view of the prince. Workers; industry; labor; working-class. | |
