(aka OLD POLICE STATION BECOMES A HOUSE) M/S of the Police Station in Paddington, London as a policeman walks down the steps from the door; M/Ss of the blue lamp outside the station, as commentator asks "What happens to old stations, ones that aren't demolished, that is?". M/S of a white cube lamp hanging above the door of a house. L/S of this house, a former police station with a high wall around it, as commentator tells us it was built in Ampthill, Bedfordshire in 1805. M/S of a small window with bars across it; C/U of a very faded sign on the side of the doorway, just about reading 'Police Office'; C/U of a new, plastic sign on the wall reading 'The Old Police House'. We hear "the station has been bought as a house by Mr Bernard Laycock, an architect's assistant". M/S of a closed cell door, then we see Bernard opening one of the cells with a key from a large bunch. He goes in and sits down to examine a piece of wood for building, then walks out. C/U of a small sign on a door reading 'Sergeants Office'; Bernard walks in and we see it contains his workbench (that used to be a prisoner's bed) and all his tools and building equipment. He starts to plane the piece of wood. M/S of Bernard's wife, Margaret, holding their baby, Sally Ann, who was born in the former police station. C/U of the baby, chewing on something (looks like a pork pie). M/S of Bernard in one of the cells, looking at a large tape recording machine. M/S of Margaret with a tray of tea and biscuits, unlocking the cell hatch door. She passes the tea and biscuits through to Bernard, then locks the hatch! (Useful if you have an argument with your spouse.) Bernard takes his refreshments to an armchair, as we see the cell wall has been knocked through to the old Inspector's Office to make a lounge. Bernard stirs and drinks his tea. L/S of the exterior of the building.
