| Description: | PRODUCING A CABARET SHOW Great film showing preparations for a new show at the Grafton Galleries. London Chorus line rehearsal: women lined up at the barre doing kicks - front, side, front, side. LS 8 people grouped informally on stage singing from sheet music while director conducts them. Scenes from opening night: couples dancing on dance floor. Shot looking across empty dancefloor toward 2 women in tights & short flared skirts who walk from the small low stage toward the audience tables, each carrying a floral wreath on a pole. Short excerpt from dramatic dance by æ woman in long fringed cape. Then a dance featuring women dressed as gift-wrapped boxes with their heads & limbs sticking out. Next, ballroom dance w/ acrobatics: dressed for ballroom, they dance around the floor and every so often the man assists the woman in a backflip! MLS the band playing - looks like they are really rockin out! Back to the acrobatic ballroom dancers, who now perform a cartwheel together. One more flip, then they bow. Next is a dance w/ men & women in period costumes of mid-1800s; in some of these shots one can see people sitting at tables in BG. "A living statue - the Woman in Bronze" LS woman wearing loincloth and a very skimpy band around her breasts. She and the cloth all covered w/ bronze paint. She holds a bowl w/ steam coming from it. MS same. She raises the bowl above her head. LS same. | |
