| Description: | Charlton. At Stone's foundry we see various shots of propellors being manufactured for ocean-going liners. Molten metal is poured into ladles and the dross is skimmed off with a rake. A man checks the temperature of the molten metal with a barometer. The ladle of metal is moved to the casting section and the metal is poured into a mould. Once the bronze has solidified the mould is removed, revealing a rough cast propellor. A huge cutting machine cuts the propellor, then it is moved to another part of the factory for boring. Several shots of the huge propellor going round as holes are bored through the end. The propellor is polished with electric polishers by workmen. The finished propellor is examined. | |
