Cornwall LS a couple sort of wedge shaped pyramid-like things. WS pan over the china clay pits - like a canyon w/ small railway tracks through it, small structures here and there, cable on poles, etc. MS side view worker sits resting. Another shot panning on area. LS 3 men work digging clay. One guy stands toward top of steep slope loosening clay and 2 others work below scooping it up and loading it in wagon; a 4th guy who also looks like a laborer, stands on grassy top of this man-made cliff. A bit wider shot of same workers; the 2 below push the full wagon along track toward camera. MLS man in suit, smoking pipe, looks at a chunk of clay a worker is showing him; he breaks off a piece, examines it. ECU mottled looking clay. LS 2 workers spray jets of water from hoses against clay cliff. MLS tilt down: worker down in a square "sand box" wading in whitish goop, scooping liquid toward one side. (Here the heavier sand is deposited while lighter clay runs out. MLS worker standing in soggy sand shovelling the sand out. WS cart crossing the clay "canyon" on a rail track, being pulled by a rope. LS cart pulled up on a precarious tilted platform, where it dumps out load of sand through hole in platform onto pile of sand below. Title says "Hence the pyramids." Repeat of 1st shot of the pyramidal piles. Shot looking along long trough up on scaffolding containing whitish clay water; pump in BG at end of trough. Closer shot of pump in action. Back to preceding view. 5 long refining troughs side by side, at ground level. MLS worker standing in more clay water down in what look like a foundation; clay water is pouring out of a pipe at the top and the worker is spreading it around with a long-handled tool. LS worker stands at the edge of a square pool (may be same pit as last shot but now full) poking in it with long stick; in BG is base of the pyramid - which is now revealed to be huge. LS pan 2 workers scooping up clay from which water has evaporated; they scoop it into cart on rail track. Workers pushing carts away. Shot from inside building looking out doorway: worker approaching pushing cart on track through doorway. MS cart tipped over and clay (still pourable) dumped out into vat. MLS worker uses tool to lift up blocks of clay. LS diag. view warehouse stacked full of clay bricks. LS horse drawn cart backed up on edge of platform; worker tips cart backward, dumping powdery stuff into larger square container on railroad.
