GV White City stadium during AAA (Amateur Athletic Association) Championship in London. GV The start of the 100 yards race. Gun goes, camera pans with the runners as Berwyn Jones moves into an early lead and breasts the tape to win. Second is Larry Questad of USA. GV Crowd. GV/GV Start of the 400 yards race. Gun goes, camera pans with the runners as Adrian Metcalfe from Leeds runs strongly but the gap is being made up by American Ron Freeman. SV Officials. GV Runners coming towards the finish. Freeman showing in front of Metcalfe, but Metcalfe is the stronger of the two and gets up on the line to beat Freeman as he breaks the tape. SCU Metcalfe and Freeman. GV Crowd. GV Start of the one mile race. SV Crowd. GV The runners going past camera at the end of the first lap with Whetton leading from Alan Simpson. Athlete No 24, Ray Roseman, sprints to pass the rest of the field and go into a long lead. He turns and waves to the others inviting them to follow him. SV Roseman running past camera followed by the rest of the field. GV Nearing the end of the second lap with Roseman well in front. GV Roseman running past camera with the rest of the field trailing. Simpson breaks the tape followed by the other two. SCU Simpson. SV Competitor in the pole vault as he brings the bar down - he wears No 13 but is not listed in the program. SV Pressmen. SV John Pennel of USA makes his vault and clears the bar. SV Official measuring the bar at 16 feet 8 3/4 inches. SV Pennel runs up to make his record breaking attempt. He goes over the bar, pan up untouched bar - this is the new world record. SCU Team mates and officials crowding round Pennel and congratulating him. GV Crowd applauding. CU Pennel.
