| Description: | Reverie - The Statue that came to life - born in the fantastic realm of smoke - M/S of a man in evening dress coming into an apartment and taking off his hat and coat. He turns on a radio and sits back on a sofa, listening to the music and drinking a cocktail. On the table beside him is a large ashtray with a bronze art deco figure of a woman standing on it. As the smoke from the man's cigarette in the ashtray rises, we see closer shots of the figure, who starts to come to life (wonder what is burning away in that cigarette?). She pulls a waft of smoke from the air (actually a transparent scarf) and dances about with it in a kind of modern ballet style, then goes back to her original pose and turns back into a statue. We fade back into a shot of the man still sitting there and musing, then fade out. (Pygmalion, legend) | |
