M/S of four uniformed Customs Officers coming out of a shed on the Customs Pier and stepping onto a small launch on the Thames. Tower Bridge is visible in the background. M/S of the men climbing onto the deck of the launch and sitting down. M/S of them sailing away, the buildings on the side of the Thames are in the background and there are metal railings in the foreground. C/U of the launch sailing towards the camera. M/S of the boat sailing along the Thames, C/U of one of the Officers. M/S of the four Officers sitting in the launch talking, one is a Preventive Officer and the others are Assistant Preventive Officers. M/S of the men sitting in a line, the Officer points off screen. M/S of the front of the launch as it cuts through the water. L/S of the launch from the back. C/U of the officer looking round. L/S taken from the boat of another boat behind sailing under a bridge. L/S of a large ship called the 'Boltrover' shot from the launch as it sails towards it. M/S of the four men on the launch, they get off and prepare to board the ship. The Tower of London is visible in the background. L/S of the men climbing up the rope ladder, a large bundle of cargo is being hoisted up above them. M/S of the Officer giving instructions to the others, one of them is now dressed in a boiler suit, they walk off in different directions. L/S of the man in the boiler suit walking across the deck, he lifts up a large red box and looks underneath, next to the box is a large container labelled 'Life Jackets'. A naval officer is watching him while he carries out the inspection. The Customs man gets down and looks at the side of the life jacket box and then lifts up the lid. He starts to take them out, M/S from the side of him looking through the box, the naval officer is stood watching in the background. M/S along another part of the ship, a customs officer walks over and reaches up to check the casing of a light bulb. C/U of his hand feeling inside the metal and glass casing. M/S of him looking at a ventilator, he has a torch in his hand and feels in his top pocket for a mirror. M/S of him taking the mirror out of his pocket and holding it under the rim of the ventilator as he shines the torch up. M/S of him walking away from the ventilator and opening the lid of a bunker next to it, he shines his torch in. C/U of his face as he is examining the bunker. M/S of him shutting the lid, looking round and walking away. M/S low angle shot of the masts, another officer is checking something near the top. M/S of the officer in the boiler suit coming out of a door and looking at a man stirring a pot of paint. He walks over and asks to look at the other pots, he starts to take the lid off one of them. C/U of him levering the top of a pot of red paint, the other man crouches down to watch him, the Officer picks up a stick and starts checking the paint. C/U of him poking the stick into the paint.
