| Description: | This tape is out take footage from a WETA show titled "Rock & Roll Reunion". The premise of the show was to have a group of middle aged people meet in a club, dance to the music of their youth and possibly be set up to meet an old high school sweetheart. The show is hosted by TOM CURTIS a funny looking man reminscent of a game show host. There is a lot of footage here of people dancing to oldies - the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Beach boys, etc. Their style of dance and dress screams early 80s - a lot of funny/silly stuff here. (09:21:37) Opens to b/w photographs of high school girl and boy - two pictures are framed to look as though they are in a photo album (09:21:57) Camera moves from back of line outside club down the club stairs and past the club doorman/bouncer - the doorman tells the camera "Yeah, you wish you were 18," and gestures the camera into the club, the camera then pans the inside of the club which has a large bar, various seating areas, tacky 80s lights, and mirrored walls, behind the bar is a dance floor, people are mingling with one another throughout the club, camera closes in on bar where Rock & Roll Reunion host TOM CURTIS sits (09:22:38) Tom Curtis introduces the show and explains its premise, he also mentions that MORGAN FAIRCHILD will be the show's special guest - Curtis is a short man with a mustache, poofy hair and big side burns, his demeanor is reminiscent of a game show host (09:23:29) Shot turns to focus on dance floor where crowd of people dances to "Louie, Louie" (09:23:37) Screen goes black (09:23:55) Slightly different edited take of the show's beginning - camera enters club, pans club and ends up on Tom Curtis, Curtis in close up introduces Rock & Roll Reunion, shot of dance floor where crowd dances to "Louie, Louie" (09:26:05) Screen goes black (09:26:14) Another take of show's beginning - much like the first two (09:28:20) Screen goes black (09:28:35) Brief excerpt from Tom Curtis' interview with Morgan Fairchild - Fairchild sits at bar with Curtis and Fairchild talks about love relationships of her youth - she mentions MICK JAGGER and footage smoothly shifts to people at the club dancing on the dance floor to the Rolling Stones' "Let's Spend the Night Together" (09:29:26) Screen goes black (09:29:42 - 38:24) Series of graphics tests where still shots of members of the dancing audience are framed and text underneath them spells out their names, high school and year of graduation (09:38:44) Morgan Fairchild in close up shot at bar gives her name, and her high school name, jokes about not revealing the year of her graduation then says she can't wait for "Rock & Roll Reunion" - several takes of this are repeated with different edits and graphics place around footage (09:45:15) Still shot of one more audience member is manipulated on screen | |
