Girls' Roller Derby Group of teenage girl roller skaters stand in a row in an outdoor rink; they are dressed in black from head to toe: black berets, dark sweaters and flared skirts c. 1" above the knee, black stockings and black skates as well! At a signal from ref behind them they get into pre-racing position. He shoots starter gun and they take off. Skaters whizzing round the rink. Slow-motion of the girls skating past, then wider shot in slo-mo. Back to normal speed: shots of skaters racing past to left, rounding corners (though to my mind they're a bit wimpy on the corners - they just plant their feet and glide around rather than cross-stepping) etc.; can see a few spectators sitting or standing at the edge of the rink. End of race: race official (on skates too) crouches at finish line holding stop watch as the skaters cross. | |
