| Description: | ROMANCE AT THE NUFFIELD Classic film showing a romantic rendezvous. Excellent film showing the facilities on offer at the Nuffield Club. (USO Club) We follow two characters - an R.A.F. airman called Roy and a W.A.A.F. girl called Pat as they have a romantic rendezvous at the Nuffield. Roy reads a magazine whilst he waits for his date - he looks at his watch. C/U of a pair of feet coming through a revolving door then C/Us of stylish looking woman in W.A.A.F. uniform. Roy comes to greet her and they walk through the club hand in hand. They check in their bags and Pat's hat. They have a meal in the self-service cafeteria. Good shots of them eating together. They decide to go to the Cafe de Paris to dance. Before that Roy gets his hair cut at the Nuffield Club's own Barbers' Shop. Pat freshens up in a room set aside for changing and primping. Roy has his trousers pressed. Pat puts on some earrings and lipstick. Roy waits for Pat in the Cafe de Paris. She arrives looking beautiful and they he admires her then leads her to the balcony. Top shot of the dance floor showing lots of people dancing - some are in uniform, others in mufti. Pat and Roy join the dancing. C/Us of them as they dance and more top shots of the dancers. Roy asks band leader for their special song and we see them dancing together on the crowded dance floor. Narration ends: "...as they glide between the other happy couples they dream of the future, of those days when they'll look back tenderly at the time they used to say 'meet you at the Nuffield club'." | |
