| Description: | RUNAWAY CYCLIST Early French comedy film - The Runaway Cyclist. Man buys a bicycle and while being taught to ride loses control and rides off knocking over people everywhere with the result that he is chased by crowd in the end he falls down a well and is caught. France Man comes out of a shop; with new bicycle. Another man is teaching him to ride it; holding him up and pushing him along. Meanwhile; another guy comes and speaks to the teacher who turns away to answer; his "student" rolls off on his own. He knocks down a man on a ladder; people sitting at a table outdoors. He rides over a board leaning on a fence like a teeter-totter; clatters down flight of stairs; even climbs over a wall with the bike!! Also knocks down a cart. As he does all this damage he is chased by a growing crowd of offended people. Finally he jumps down a well; and is pulled up by his pursuers. Great stunts, gets up on top of wheel and rides it, at the wall scene, the special effect, trick film thing is done really well. Various chasers go after him and jump over wall by having it filmed forward, and they use movements that will look forward when film is reversed. | |
