| Description: | The German liner Hanseatic burns at her Hudson River pier in New York City, causing extensive damage and injuring seven firemen. Had the flames broke out at sea, it would have been a major catastrophe. 400 passengers change European voyage plans. High Angle Shot - SS Hanseatic sitting in a berth at Hudson River Pier in New York City, billows of smoke pouring out of the passenger ocean liner. MS - You see nothing but smoke pouring out and nothing else. Camera panning - Over the top of the Hanseatic and through the smoke you see some of New York's skyline. MS - Side shot of the Hanseatic, with firemen fighting the inner fire of the ship. MS - Some of the ship’s crew (porters) High Angle Shot - Luggage sitting on the deck of the ship. MS - A fireman embarking up the gang plank of the Hanseatic. MS - Fire truck and firemen . MS - The SS Hanseatic sitting at the pier with very little smoke coming out of the ship. The Hanseatic caught fire in the engine room, while in New York. She suffered severely extensive damage to her machinery and seven firemen were injured. Bugsier tugs towed her back to Howaldtswerke in Hamburg for repairs but inspection found her to be beyond economic repair. | |
