| Description: | SEA SHELLS Sea shell importer Millicent Rich shows us some exotic specimens in her Balham flat. Balham, London. M/S of a dining room with simplistic decor and furniture; Millicent Rich enters and places a large sea fan on the sideboard. C/U of the fan as commentator talks of the harvest of the sea bed that is finding a place in contemporary design; Millicent is Europe's only woman importer of shells. We then see Millicent in a living room; she sits on a simple couch and examines a large starfish; several exotic shells are spread out on the table before her. Commentator talks of the shells making a striking contrast to the right-angled shape of modern furniture by Terence Conran - which is presumably what we see here. She picks up a large conch shell and turns it over in her hands, then a huge Spider shell from Africa. M/S of a three Murex shells and an African bust on a sideboard. Millicent walks back into the dining room with a bowl of shells. She places a Green Ear shell, a Baby Giant Clam and a Scorpion Shell on the table; then picks up various other exotic shells from the bowl and turns them over in her hands. Picking up a small shell with a green centre, she places it on her finger to show it could be made into a ring. M/S of Millicent shows she is wearing some shells as earrings; C/U of these Episcopal Mitre shells. C/U of the bowl of shells. | |
