Queen Elizabeth II gets out of her car with Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh and meets dignitaries. M/S of Queen at Kenema, she watches two little boys crushing seeds (?) with a big mortar and pestle. M/S of the Queen watching a man weaving, she enters a thatched house. M/S of the two little boys again. She emerges and watches a woman having her hair done while she breast feeds her baby, the Queen looks in a shack covered with leaves. M/S of the Queen visiting the Alluvial diamond mine at Hanger (?) the men and boys chant and sing whilst they work and dig out the earth in a big pit, they sift the muddy water and stones to find the diamonds. Topless women do a traditional dance. L/S of the guests. Prime Minister Sir Milton Margai makes a speech, the Queen stands up to reply. People applaud, various shots of the guests. M/S looking out over bay, the Queen walks along at a garden party with the Prime Minister, she meets various people. Various shots of the Queen and Duke meeting people. | |
